The University of Leicester Law Society provides students with numerous opportunities each year to showcase their skills and talent. The Negotiation Competition, Client Interview Competition, LUDA Debate Tournament and LULS Mediation Competition are this year's main competitions. These will give students the opportunity to fine tune essential skills to make it into the legal profession. We look forward to meeting you and seeing you compete.
The Negotiation Competition is open to all students who are members of the Law Society. Not dissimilar to mediation, negotiation as a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution is becoming, and in fact has become, a prevalent tool of resolving disputes outside of the judiciary system.
Client Interviewing Competition
The Client Interviewing competition is a competition that is exclusive to first and second year law students. First year students can get involved by taking on the role of the client!
The Debate Tournament allows you to build upon a broad range of skills such as research, persuasion, public speaking and the ability to think on your feet. The debate tournament is open to all
Mediation is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). It involves placing the outcome entirely into the hands of the parties at dispute, while having third party mediators guide them to a mutual agreement. The mediation competition is open to all.
