Why Animal Law?

This international event will present lawyers from Canada, the United States as well as England, from the Association of Lawyers for Animal Welfare, Animal Justice and Animal Legal Defense Fund. We will discuss the importance of animal law, the careers of these lawyers and their journey into animal law, as well as opportunities you’ll have upon completion of your degree as well as while you’re a student!!

We are welcoming guest speaker, Edie Bowles, who is a solicitor at Cruelty Free International, the leading organisation working to end animal experiments worldwide, and she is a trustee of ALAW and has been working with ALAW since 2010. As well as Camille Labchuk, who is an animal rights lawyer and the Executive Director of Animal Justice. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. There will be a video presentation from Joyce Tischler, who is the co-founder of Animal Legal Defense Fund and Executive Director for 25 years. She is known as the Mother of Animal Law, as when she embarked on this journey, animal law did not exist!!
