Directors of Mooting 2023/2024

Maryam Ahmad- ma951@student.le.ac.uk Hannah Cheeseman- hc345@student.le.ac.uk

As the 2023/2024 directors of mooting, we aim to showcase how mooting is an incredible opportunity which every student should seize. Competing in mooting competitions enables you to build upon your academic and personal skills. It also means you get to meet new people and make new friends! This year we want to increase participation in our mooting events, therefore, we will be hosting more informative and accessible training sessions throughout the academic year. Additionally, we will be organising social events to give members the chance to network with barristers and have some fun!

Feel free to contact us with any mooting enquiries you may have.

OUR FACILITIES

The Sir Nicholas Green Moot Court

This was opened in 2019 in recognition of alumni Sir Nicholas Green QC after his many years of support and affiliation with LULS. It has a judging bench and chairs, advocate panels, a large spectator gallery area and projectors.

For more about Sir Nicholas Green: https://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/law/people/nicholas-green

Mooting is the only extra-curricular activity within LULS to have its own dedicated facility, and we hold our events such as semi-finals, finals, and inter-university moots here.

The Council Chambers

These are a set of beautiful and elegant rooms which have been host to many of our largest mooting competitions in the past. The main chamber is comprised of a very large spectator area, as well as an extended judging bench. There are also conference, meeting and lounging rooms.
