PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS

Ella bailey

Welcome to the Leicester University Law Society! 

My name is Ella Bailey, I am your President for the 2024/2025 academic year. This year, our committee is dedicated to providing valuable opportunities that will empower our members to excel in their future legal careers, while also building a strong and supportive community of like-minded individuals.

Coming through clearing in my first year, I was determined to make the most of my university experience. I competed in numerous competitions, attended a variety of workshops, and enjoyed the socials hosted by LULS. In my second year, I was appointed to the role of Barristers’ Representative, where I offered guidance and promoted opportunities for students interested in the bar. The engaging events and support provided by LULS over the past two years inspired me to run for President. My goal is to continue the legacy of past presidents, helping Leicester students enhance their career prospects.

As a member of LULS, you'll have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of competitions including negotiation, client interviewing, mooting, and mock trial. This year, we're even hosting a commercial awareness competition, sponsored and judged by Baker McKenzie! Many of these competitions offer fantastic prizes, such as mini-pupillages and work experience placements, which are great for boosting your CV.

In addition to our competitions, we offer workshops aimed at enhancing your knowledge in key areas such as commercial awareness, application processes, and interview preparation. We also host networking socials with firms and chambers, providing valuable opportunities to gain insights into the profession from experienced legal professionals.

While we take pride in being a professional society, we also believe in making the most of our time at university together. We warmly invite all members to join us at our social events throughout the year including our meet and greet, pizza-making night, bar crawls, and annual Law Ball.

I look forward to welcoming both returning and new members to LULS and am excited to help make this year a successful one for everyone!
