As the 2024/2025 Directors of Mooting, our goal is to highlight the incredible opportunities that mooting offers. Participating in our competitions allows you to sharpen your legal research, deepen your understanding of the law, and strengthen your advocacy skills, all while working as a team! Beyond academics, mooting offers the chance to network with legal professionals, compete in both internal and external competitions, and build friendships with like-minded students interested in advocacy.

This year, we’re focused on raising awareness and boosting participation in our mooting events. We also plan to introduce new competitions in specialised areas of law, such as tech or family law, to appeal to students interested in specific fields and seeking relevant experience.

Feel free to contact us with any mooting enquiries you may have.

OUR FACILITIES

The Sir Nicholas Green Moot Court

This was opened in 2019 in recognition of alumni Sir Nicholas Green QC after his many years of support and affiliation with LULS. It has a judging bench and chairs, advocate panels, a large spectator gallery area and projectors.

For more about Sir Nicholas Green: https://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/law/people/nicholas-green

Mooting is the only extra-curricular activity within LULS to have its own dedicated facility, and we hold our events such as semi-finals, finals, and inter-university moots here.

The Council Chambers

These are a set of beautiful and elegant rooms which have been host to many of our largest mooting competitions in the past. The main chamber is comprised of a very large spectator area, as well as an extended judging bench. There are also conference, meeting and lounging rooms.
